The present work constitutes the initial experimental effort to characterise the dynamic tensile performance of basalt fibre grids employed in TRM systems. The tensile behaviour of a bi-directional basalt fibre grid was explored using a high-speed servo-hydraulic testing machine with specialised grips. Deformation and failure modes were captured using a high-speed camera.

Purpose: To evaluate the primary use of a laser atherectomy-thrombectomy system in patients with acute limb ischemia (ALI).

Materials And Methods: A single-center retrospective review of patients presenting with ALI (≤14 days) from August 2021 to February 2024 treated primarily with a laser atherectomy-thrombectomy system (Auryon; AngioDynamics, Queensbury, New York) was performed. Technical success was defined by resolution of the acute occlusion with adequate inflow and outflow with pedal signals detectable by handheld Doppler ultrasound (US).

Article Synopsis
  • ! Antibiotics are given to 20%-30% of pregnant women, yet their impact on newborn immune development is not well understood, leading to increased susceptibility to sepsis in offspring of treated mothers.
  • ! Newborn mice from antibiotic-treated mothers showed lower levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA) in breast milk and feces, leading to a weakened gut immune response and increased risks of gut bacteria entering the bloodstream.
  • ! Restoring IgA production through treatments or using breast milk from untreated mothers improved immune profiles and offered protection against sepsis in pups, emphasizing the importance of breastfeeding in mitigating antibiotic effects.

Article Synopsis
  • Alternaria mycotoxins can significantly impact food safety and public health, showing various negative effects, but detailed information on their immune system and estrogenic effects is limited.
  • The study focused on identifying which specific mycotoxins from Alternaria alternata, grown on rice, contribute to immunosuppressive and antiestrogenic effects using advanced fractionation and analysis methods.
  • Results indicated that while certain mycotoxins (ATX-I and ALTP) suppress immune responses and estrogen activity, others like AOH and TeA had minimal or no effect, highlighting the need for further research on their health risks and mechanisms.
