Traditional Chinese medicine Chaiqinchengqi decoction for patients with acute pancreatitis: A randomized clinical trial.

Background: Chaiqinchengqi decoction, a traditional Chinese medicine, has shown promising effects in in vitro, animal and preliminary small human studies for acute pancreatitis, but evidence of clinical practice is limited.

Purpose: To investigate whether Chaiqinchengqi decoction could improve clinical outcomes in patients with acute pancreatitis.

Study Design: Prospective, pragmatic, randomized controlled trial.

Squaramide-Catalyzed Asymmetric Mannich/Hemiketalization Retro-Henry Cascade Reaction of -Hydroxy-α-Aminosulfones with α-Nitroketones.

A concise and efficient asymmetric Mannich/hemiketalization/retro-Henry cascade reaction between -hydroxy-α-aminosulfones and α-nitroketones was developed by utilizing a cinchona-derived bifunctional squaramide catalyst. This methodology provided access to β-nitro-substituted amino compounds with up to 95% yield and >99% ee. The practicality was demonstrated by scale-up and diverse derivatizations, including the synthesis of imidazolidinone and amino acid analogs.

Simultaneous Unbinned Differential Cross-Section Measurement of Twenty-Four Z+jets Kinematic Observables with the ATLAS Detector.

Z boson events at the Large Hadron Collider can be selected with high purity and are sensitive to a diverse range of QCD phenomena. As a result, these events are often used to probe the nature of the strong force, improve Monte Carlo event generators, and search for deviations from standard model predictions. All previous measurements of Z boson production characterize the event properties using a small number of observables and present the results as differential cross sections in predetermined bins.

Efficacy of Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulation on Modulating Upper Extremity Sympathetic Skin Response in Alleviating Cancer Survivors With Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy: A Propensity Score-Matched Cohort Study.

Objective:  Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common side effect of chemotherapy and it is currently intractable We compared the efficacy of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) against non-TEAS groups and investigated the variables that predict effective relief of upper extremity pain in cancer survivors with CIPN.

Methods: We retrospectively collected data of cancer survivors who developed CIPN between May 2017 to March 2022. All eligible CIPN patients were divided into TEAS group (received TEAS) and non-TEAS group (did not receive TEAS) in our department.

Rethinking Right Upper Quadrant (RUQ) Pain: The Role of Lemmel Syndrome in Biliary Obstruction.

Lemmel syndrome involves a periampullary duodenal diverticulum (PAD), a pouch-like outpouching near the ampulla of Vater, compressing the common bile duct. We describe a case of severe abdominal pain in a patient who had a large periampullary diverticulum, managed with surgical intervention after an initial failed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). An elderly female patient in her early 90s arrived at the emergency department with severe cramping pain localized to the right upper quadrant of her abdomen, progressively intensifying over several weeks.
