Between 2009 and 2015, the Canadian health care system was estimated to be responsible for 4.6% of national carbon emissions. Determine awareness of and describe eco-initiatives that the department of pharmacy can implement to aim to reduce the carbon footprint in hospital pharmacy in an effort to 'go green'.

One of the most critical ones is bone destruction, which remains a major cause of morbidity and a risk factor for osteopenia and osteoporosis in IBD patients. In various mouse models of IBD, we and other have demonstrated concomitant bone loss due to a significant increase in osteoclast activity.

Despite improvements in patient survival with current treatment strategies, the quality of life of these patients remains poor owing to the sequelae and relapse risk. An alternative, or, in addition to the current standard treatment, could be considered immunotherapy, such as Natural Killer cells (NK).
