Efficient semi-analytical simulation of elastic guided waves in cylinders subject to arbitrary non-symmetric loads.

In this paper, we present an approach to model the propagation of high-frequency elastic guided waves in solid or hollow cylinders. This formulation requires only discretization of the radial direction, whereas the circumferential direction is approximated via a truncated Fourier series, and the axial direction is described analytically. The model is extended to allow applying arbitrary non-symmetric loads f(r,θ) on the flat cylinder surface.

A comparison of consultative model and direct-indirect intervention with preschoolers.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of a consultative model of intervention with that of direct-indirect intervention for meeting goals of preschool students with mild motor delays.

Method: Two occupational therapists provided consultation to teams working with 11 children 1 day a week for all 40 weeks of the school year. A different occupational therapist provided direct-indirect treatment to another 9 children for a full week every 3 weeks for the 40 weeks of the school year.

A retrospective study of data from 2352 secretin tests has been studied. Age-related changes in the structure and function of the gastrointestinal tract have been the subject of many publications. There is a consensus that basal and stimulated gastric secretion declines with age.

Effects of intravenous ethanol on basal bile-pancreatic secretion in nonalcoholic and alcohol-fed rats.

In nonalcoholic (NA) and alcohol-fed rats (AF), intravenous-ethanol-induced percentage changes in bile-pancreatic-secretion (BPS) were evaluated, with and without gastric juice diversion (GJD) and with and without BPS duodenal recirculation (DR). Even with GJD, ethanol elicited a slight increase in BPS. These changes were greater in AF animals even when performed without GJD.
