Effects of Kinesio Taping method on menstrual pain: A randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study.

Current research promotes complementary methods of coping with menstrual pain (MP). Our objective was to examine the effectiveness of the Kinesio Taping (KT) intervention on MP and determine whether KT has therapeutic impact or whether there is presence of placebo. We used crossover design, dividing 30 female participants into KT and placebo KT groups.

Roles of stress, stress perception and trait-anxiety in the onset and course of alopecia areata.

Clinical observations suggest that the nervous system, including psychological factors, can influence the onset and course of alopecia areata (AA). The aim of this study was to determine whether stressful life events, stress perception, and trait-anxiety are risk factors in the onset and course of AA. A group of 45 patients diagnosed with AA and a group of 45 healthy controls were participants in the study.

Muscle fiber type distribution in multifidus muscle in cases of lumbar disc herniation.

A study was conducted to analyze the distribution and diameter of muscle fiber types in samples of the medial paravertebral lumbar muscle, i.e., multifidus muscle, obtained from 76 patients who underwent surgery for disc herniation.

Trichloroethene and tetrachloroethene in ground waters of Zagreb, Croatia.

At the end of 1986 the presence of chlorinated hydrocarbons was detected in the ground water of the industrial area of Zagreb, Croatia. Concentrations of trichloroethene and tetrachloroethene were close to or exceeded maximum admissible concentrations prescribed by the Public Health Regulations for drinking water (30 micrograms/l for trichloroethene and 10 micrograms/l for tetrachloroethene). The pumping-site situated within the area had been temporarily closed until a water-treatment plant based upon adsorption on activated carbon was built.

The mechanism of angioplasty--endoscopic and morphometric investigations in an experimental model.

The effect of angioplasty using two different sizes of balloon catheter were examined by angiography and angioscopy before and after dilatation. A significant increase in the outer and inner diameters was seen accompanied by a decrease in the cross sectional area of the stenoses as well as the thickness of the vascular wall. Angioscopy revealed typical longitudinal tears of the plaque edges which are pressed during flow against the vessel wall.
