Objective: To characterize patient and referring physician preferences when selecting where to have elective imaging performed METHODS: In this Institutional Research Board approved survey-based study, online surveys were completed by 393 patients who had recently had a non-contrast MRI of the shoulder, lumbar spine, or knee within the past 2 years and 168 physicians who had ordered at least 12 such MRIs in the past year. The survey data included explicit questions about preferences as well as a set of conjoint choice screens. Conjoint analysis utilized a logistic model estimated using maximum likelihood estimation.

Purpose: This study aims to (1) devise a classification system to categorize and manage ballistic fractures of the knee, hip, and shoulder; (2) assess the reliability of this classification compared to current classification schemas; and (3) determine the association of this classification with surgical management.

Methods: We performed a retrospective review of a prospectively collected trauma database at an urban level 1 trauma centre. The study included 147 patients with 169 articular fractures caused by ballistic trauma to the knee, hip, and shoulder.

With National Aeronautics and Space Administration's plans for longer distance, longer duration spaceflights such as missions to Mars and the surge in popularity of space tourism, the need to better understand the effects of spaceflight on the musculoskeletal system has never been more present. However, there is a paucity of information on how spaceflight affects orthopaedic health. This review surveys existing literature and discusses the effect of spaceflight on each aspect of the musculoskeletal system.

Introduction: Orthopaedic trauma has been linked to major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Post-injury rates of psychiatric diagnoses and their relationship to various injury characteristics are not well characterized. We aimed to determine the association between orthopaedic trauma and MDD, GAD, and PTSD diagnoses at 5-year follow-up.
