First Malian series of surgery for rheumatic valve disease: opening of the centre, clinical features and peri-operative realities.

Introduction: Over the past two decades, the incidence of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and chronic rheumatic heart disease (RHD) have dramatically declined in wealthier regions of the world as a result of preventative programmes, improved living standards and access to cardiac surgery. Nevertheless, ARF and RHD are still public health problems in less-developed regions of the world such as Oceania, south Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.

Aim: We report on clinical, therapeutic and prognostic aspects as well as the difficulties encountered during this first series of surgery for rheumatic valve disease in Mali.

[Management of patients with Covid 19: analysis of prescription drugs at Gabriel Touré University Hospital].

Aims: The objective of the study was to analyse drug prescriptions for the COVID-19 treatment at the CHU Gabriel Touré.

Status epilepticus in black African patients with hypertensive encephalopathy: a rare entity that must not be underrated.

The severity of a blood pressure spike is more closely associated with serious organ dysfunction, which can be life-threatening in the short term, than with the blood pressure level itself. A hypertensive emergency is defined as the presence of high blood pressure associated with acute organ dysfunction. The specific nature of high blood pressure in black patients may cause more frequent hypertensive emergencies.

[Cranio-encephalic trauma in children at the Emergency room of the Teaching Hospital- Gabriel Touré of Bamako].

Objective: To study the epidemiological, clinical and evolutionary aspects of head trauma in children at the emergency room.

Method: This was a descriptive longitudinal study over 1 year from February 2016 to February 2017, which included any patient aged 0 to 15 years who had cranial trauma The data were collected from a pre-established questionnaire, analyzed by the software (SPSS 22.0, EXCEL and WORD 2010).

[Amoebic liver abscess in general surgery at the Gabriel Touré teaching hospital, Bamako, Mali].

Unlabelled: The objectives were to determine the frequency, and to describe the clinical and therapeutic aspects of amoebic liver abscess. This was a retrospective study in the general surgery department of the Gabriel Touré teaching hospital from 1 January 2004 to December 2008. Included in this study, were all patients hospitalized and treated for amoebic liver abscess.
