Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) remains a major challenge after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), and further understanding of its immunopathology is crucial for developing new treatments. CD70 interacts with CD27 and is upregulated transiently on T cells after recent T-cell receptor (TCR) engagement. Here, we investigated the functional and clinical significance of CD70 expression on T cells during the early posttransplantation period.

EUS-Guided Transgastric Drainage of Intraabdominal Fluid Collections.

Intraabdominal fluid collections can be a significant cause of morbi-mortality among patients with acute pancreatitis and those who underwent surgery, especially oncological ones. Nowadays, the treatment tends to be minimally invasive, so that the patient's recovery would be shorter and the quality of life higher. EUS (endoscopic ultrasound) has emerged in the last decade to fulfill that demand, alongside percutaneous and surgical drainage in the management of perigastric collections.

Bioethical dilemmas in using animal in medical research. Challenges and opportunities.

Purpose: The study aims to present the main ethical dilemmas that research on animals raised for anyone involved in this process, starting from the idea that there are rights of animals to be known and respected.

Background: The evolution of medicine is inextricably linked to the production of new drugs, the occurrence of surgical techniques; none of these can be possible without the study of experimental animals, in vivo experimentation being part of the process of medical research.

Content: The article analyzes the main ethical dilemmas related to the use of animals in medical research, in the current legislative context and historical perspective of achieving such studies.

S100-positive dendritic cells in squamous cell laryngeal cancer.

Dendritic cells (DC) are the most potent antigen-presenting cells, and induce antigen-specific immune responses. DC are believed to evolve into tumor-antigen pulsed cells and then to migrate to local lymph nodes, where they activate anti-tumor immune responses. This theory is supported by studies showing that high DC densities are associated with favorable prognosis in some tumor types.

Management of traumatic injury prevention in sports training and competition.

The paper had as an applicative objective the epidemiological analysis of the appearance of traumatic injuries in athletes during competitions and trainings. In the period the athletes have been followed (one year), 426 traumatic injuries have been registered in 87 athletes who were analyzed in the study. Most of them were mild injuries, to which recovery has been made quite rapidly.
