The regulation of the partial pressure of oxygen by the serotonergic nervous system in hypoxia is a hypothesis, which proposes an inherent operative system in homo sapiens that allows central nervous system and endocrine-mediated vascular system adaption to variables in partial pressure of oxygen, pH and body composition, while maintaining sufficient oxygen saturation for the immune system and ensuring protection of major organs in hypoxic and suboptimal conditions. While acknowledging the importance of the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation in the regulation of acid base balance, the hypothesis seeks to define the specific neuroendocrine/vascular mechanisms at work in regulating acid base balance in hypoxia and infection. The SIA (serotonin-immune-adrenergic) system is proposed as a working model, which allows central nervous system and endocrine-mediated macro- and micro vascular 'fine tuning'.

Anthropomimetic robotics differs from conventional approaches by capitalizing on the replication of the inner structures of the human body, such as muscles, tendons, bones, and joints. Here we present our results of more than three years of research in constructing, simulating, and, most importantly, controlling anthropomimetic robots. We manufactured four physical torsos, each more complex than its predecessor, and developed the tools required to simulate their behavior.

Triad is composed of Na pyruvate, vitamin E, and unsaturated fatty acids. We found that Triad, administered orally or topically, reverses wound healing that is impaired by doxorubicin (Doxo) in rats. Rats given Doxo (6 mg/kg IV) were wounded with linear dermal incisions, and the wound-breaking strength (WBS) was compared among groups of rats differently treated with TRIAD.

Rheumatoid arthritis patients were found to have CD4+ T cells that proliferate in response to autologous synovial fluid and plasma. T cell clones and polyclonal T cell lines were found to respond to antigen(s) eluted from protein A Sepharose and anti-human immunoglobulin (Ig) antibody Sepharose. The antigen(s) was further resolved to fractions that contained intact Ig or Ig heavy chain since the T cells responded to > 100 kDa and 40-60 kDa polypeptides derived from purified Ig under nonreducing and reducing conditions, respectively.
