Low free Tri-iodothyronine (FT₃) levels are generally associated with poor prognosis in patients with various critical illnesses. Acute ST-segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) represents the most lethal form of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) with substantial short- and long-term mortality. This study was done to assess the association between FT₃ levels and in-hospital outcome of the STEMI patients treated with streptokinase therapy.

Article Synopsis
  • Soil organic matter (SOM) is crucial for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting global climate, carbon cycles, and biodiversity.
  • Coastal wetland soils, which constitute one-third of SOM, are eroding rapidly due to rising sea levels, highlighting a gap in research on carbon sequestration in these areas compared to upland soils.
  • Using solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (ssNMR), the study reveals that some molecular structures in wetland soils have been preserved for over 1,000 years, but these structures are declining in abundance as decomposition and repolymerization processes occur, making coastal wetland SOM increasingly vulnerable to environmental changes.

The tribological performance of basalt fiber reinforced PEEK material especially used as a biomaterial in many biomedical and dental applications is of interest. The specimens of three different weight fractions of PEEK and basalt fiber are fabricated as per ASTM G99 standards. The prepared specimens are having PEEK and basalt fiber in the weight percentage of 90:10, 80:20 and 70:30 ratio and named as PBC 1, PBC 2 and PBC 3 respectively.
