Present research aimed at investigation of the role of several inflammatory cytokines and free toxic radicals in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) course and disability progression as well as factors that can assist to the early transition of Relapse Remitting MS (RRMS) in Secondary Progressive MS (SPMS). Totally 22 MS patients, 14 RRMS and 8 SMPS have been investigated. Age at disease onset, disease duration, number of relapses and the Kurtzke Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores were collected.

Study purposed to determine the effectiveness of vitamin treatment in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) animal model of multiple sclerosis (MS) by comparing several blood serum inflammatory markers, neurological deficiency and histopathological changes in untreated and treated EAE animals. Eighteen, 9-13 week old, male Wistar rats were immunised by 100 μl MOG injection. Clinical signs of EAE scored by a masked investigator.

The oxidative stress-induced alteration in concentration of oxygen, lipid and nitrogen free radicals in cultured brain cortex of the newborn albino rats and its correction with vitamins E and C was investigated. Modeling the oxidative stress was achieved with addition of H(2)O(2) into the nutrient medium. In order to prevent an oxidative stress-induced cytotoxic effect, concomitantly with H(2)O(2), vitamins E and C were added into the nutrient medium.

The oxidative stress-induced changes and feasibility of prevention of these changes with an aid of vitamines E and C were investigated in cultured brain cortex of the newborn albino rats. Modeling the oxidative stress was achieved with addition of H(2)O(2) into the nutrient medium. In order to prevent an oxidative stress-induced cytotoxic effect, concomittantly with H(2)O(2), vitamines E and C were added into the nutrient medium.

To improve the functional capacity of regenerated tendon new type of intra-truncal tendon anastomosis was worked out, which was termed as "Relieving intra-truncal suture". The method reduced to a minimum tissues cutting caused by the suture in the first and second phases of healing, which gave an opportunity to start active and passive movements early and with minimal risk. Clinical results showed that "the best" indices in the control group was distinctly lower (39%), than in main group (58%), which was to "Relieving intra-truncal suture" favor.
