: This case study investigates the effect of a five-session whole-body cryostimulation (WBC) cycle on a 55-year-old female patient with cerebral palsy (CP) and lower limb spasticity (LLS) with a typical diplegic gait pattern. CP is a common physical disability characterized by motor impairments, including spasticity, which significantly impacts mobility and quality of life. The current treatments for spasticity often have limited efficacy and considerable side effects, making alternative therapies like WBC an area of interest.

Article Synopsis
  • Anaphylaxis is a severe, sudden allergic reaction that affects multiple body systems, and recent guidelines from WAO (2020) and EAACI (2021) aim to improve diagnosis and treatment strategies for this condition.
  • The study evaluated 689 patients diagnosed with anaphylaxis over a period of roughly seven years, focusing on their clinical features, demographic factors, risk causes, and response to treatment.
  • Key findings indicate that the average age of patients was about 46 years, with notable triggers including venom, drugs, and food, highlighting younger age as a risk factor for food-related anaphylaxis and female gender as a risk factor for drug-related cases.*

This study compares the workability, mechanical, and thermal characteristics of structural self-compacting lightweight concrete (SCLWC) formulations using pumice aggregate (PA), expanded perlite aggregate (EPA), fly ash (FA), and silica fume (SF). FA and SF were used as partial substitutes for cement at a 10% ratio in various mixes, impacting different aspects: According to the obtained results, FA enhanced the workability but SF reduced it, while SF improved the compressive and splitting tensile strengths more than FA. EPA, used as a fine aggregate alongside PA, decreased the workability, compressive strength, and splitting tensile strength compared to the control mix (K0).

We have previously experimentally observed high-power Stokes and second-order Stokes output from a mm-sized CaF disk using stimulated Raman scattering. A pump laser at a wavelength of 1.06 µm was coupled via a tapered fiber to the whispering gallery modes (WGM) of the disk.

Objective: This study evaluated short- and long-term efficacy and safety of the second-generation somatostatin receptor ligand pasireotide alone or in combination with dopamine agonist cabergoline in patients with Cushing's disease (CD).

Study Design: This is an open-label, multicenter, non-comparative, Phase II study comprising 35-week core phase and an optional extension phase. All patients started with pasireotide, and cabergoline was added if cortisol remained elevated.
