Seafood quality preservation remains a critical focus in the food industry, particularly as the freeze-thaw process significantly impacts the freshness and safety of aquatic products. This study investigated quality changes in frozen mackerel subjected to two thawing methods, room temperature (RT) and running water (WT), and assessed the potential of hyperspectral imaging (HSI) for classifying these methods. After thawing, mackerel samples were stored at 5 °C for 21 days, with physicochemical, textural, and spectroscopic analyses tracking quality changes and supporting the development of a spectroscopic classification model.

Numerous investigations have developed cathode materials to improve lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) performance: however, few have examined new anode materials. In this study, we synthesized a Ni-B/reduced graphene oxide (RGO) composites via a simple chemical reaction method to enhance the stability of electrodes in LIBs.

Medical encounter data from military hospitals and clinics as well as civilian health care facilities were obtained from the Defense Medical Surveillance System (DMSS) to determine pregnancies, live births, and confirmed diagnoses of maternal and congenital syphilis. The rate of maternal syphilis in female MHS beneficiaries increased by 233% between 2012 (n=123, 66.

Transition metal nitrides have extensive applications, including magnetic storage devices, hardware resistance coatings, and low-temperature fuel cells. This study investigated the structural, electrical, and mechanical properties of thin zirconium nitride (ZrN) films by examining the effects of laser irradiation times. Thin ZrN films were deposited on glass substrates using pulsed DC magnetron sputtering and irradiated with a diode laser for 6 and 10 min.

Pepper powder produced from chilling injury-affected pepper fruits exhibited increased bitter amino acids, microbial counts, and biogenic amines and decreased sweetness index and organic acid levels. These quality deteriorations indicate the need to detect chilling injury in pepper powders.
