A comparative analysis of generative artificial intelligence responses from leading chatbots to questions about endometriosis.

Introduction: The use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has begun to permeate most industries, including medicine, and patients will inevitably start using these large language model (LLM) chatbots as a modality for education. As healthcare information technology evolves, it is imperative to evaluate chatbots and the accuracy of the information they provide to patients and to determine if there is variability between them.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and comprehensiveness of three chatbots in addressing questions related to endometriosis and determine the level of variability between them.

Evaluation of Permanent Nipple-Areolar Complex Sensitivity Loss Following Reduction Mammaplasty.

Background: Predictors for permanent nipple-areolar complex (NAC) insensitivity after reduction mammaplasty are sparsely defined.

Objectives: We analyzed factors associated with NAC insensitivity over long-term follow-up.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of reduction mammaplasties on 1598 breasts performed by 4 surgeons from March 2015 to February 2023 was conducted.

Implementation of universal screening for substance use in pregnancy in a public healthcare system.

Objective: Screening questionnaires are one option for identification of at-risk substance use and substance use disorder (SUD) during pregnancy. We report the experience of a single institution following universal implementation of a brief screening tool for self-reported substance use at the first prenatal encounter.

Study Design: This is a prospective implementation study evaluating screening for substance use in pregnancy in a large safety net healthcare system.

An Evaluation of the Presence of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Information on Plastic Surgery Residency Program Websites.

Background: Increasing the diversity of plastic surgery trainees is an important step in providing optimal care for our increasingly diverse patient populations. Given that information presented on residency programs' websites can strongly influence applicants' decisions to apply to or rank a program, demonstrating a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) on program websites may aid in recruiting applicants with URM background.

Methods: Using 8 DEI-related criteria, we evaluated the websites of 103 plastic surgery residency programs for the presence of DEI-related content during the month of June 2022.
