Background: The ability of the autonomic nervous system's stress response to impair aspects of cognitive flexibility is known. However, the ability to modulate the sympathetic response and improve these cognitive impairments via nonpharmacological intervention, such as paced breathing (PB), requires further investigation.
Objective: To better elucidate the effects of PB on cognition.
This case report presents a patient with Dentogenesis Imperfecta (DI) associated with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) and its subsequent dental manifestations. The patient in this report (see Figure 1) has spent his life living with his disability type III OI (also known as brittle bone disease) and its degenerative affects. The patient is independent and enjoys his social life but felt his existing dentures were having an adverse effect on the quality of his life.

This article highlights strategic partnerships as a way to affect a distributed agency among several sets of stakeholders to break so-called path dependencies, which occur when such unsustainable pathways arise, stabilize and become self-reinforcing over time.
