[Multidisciplinarity, education, and training in pediatric oncology-hematology].

Introduction: According to the European Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOPE) standard of care guidelines, high-quality care of children and adolescents with cancer needs to be delivered by well-trained multidisciplinary teams in specialist centers working with designated shared-care local centers in a so-called hub-and-spoke model. The Diplôme Inter-Universitaire d'Oncologie Pédiatrique (DIUOP) is the only European training program in pediatric oncology in French for all physicians involved in care of patients with pediatric malignancies. In agreement with the SIOPE syllabus, the DIUOP is composed of training courses (120h), on-site practical training in a specialist center, and a research project to be defended before an examining board.

Patients in pediatric phase I and early phase II clinical oncology trials at Gustave Roussy: a 13-year center experience.

In the European Union, the pediatric medicines regulation in 2007 modified significantly the access to new agents in pediatric oncology. Early oncology trials are still thought to be associated with limited benefit and substantial risk. We report the characteristics and outcome of patients below 21 years enrolled in investigational trials in the Pediatric and Adolescent Department at Gustave Roussy between January 2000 and December 2012.

Phase II study of cisplatin and oral VP16 in patients with refractory or relapsed Ewing sarcoma.

Background: Phase II trials demonstrate the activity of cisplatin in patients with refractory Ewing sarcoma family tumours (ESFT) and also the feasibility of giving cisplatin with oral VP16 in a variety of different cancers. This trial was conducted to evaluate the activity and toxicity profile of this combination delivered as outpatient therapy in patients with refractory/relapsed ESFT.

Methods: Cisplatin was administered on days 1, 8 and 15 and days 29, 36 and 43 (70 mg/m(2)/dose for patients <21 years of age and 50 mg/m(2)/dose ≥21 years).
