The immune cellular landscape from the gastric mucosa remains largely unknown despite its relevance in several inflammatory conditions. Human gastric biopsies were obtained from the antrum, body and incisura from 10 individuals to obtain lamina propria mononuclear cells that were further characterized by spectral cytometry. Phenotypic hierarchical analyses identified a total of 52 different immune cell subsets within the human gastric mucosa revealing that T-cells (> 60%) and NK cells (> 20%) were the main populations.

Background And Objective: Only about 14% of eligible EU citizens finally participate in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening programs despite it being the third most common type of cancer worldwide. The development of CRC risk models can enable predictions to be embedded in decision-support tools facilitating CRC screening and treatment recommendations. This paper develops a predictive model that aids in characterizing CRC risk groups and assessing the influence of a variety of risk factors on the population.

Methods: This was a retrospective study. The medical records of 158 patients diagnosed with recurrent miscarriage between 2013 and 2018 at Santander University Hospital were reviewed.
The use of probiotic lactobacilli has been proposed as a strategy to mitigate damage associated with exposure to toxic metals. Their protective effect against cationic metal ions, such as those of mercury or lead, is believed to stem from their chelating and accumulating potential. However, their retention of anionic toxic metalloids, such as inorganic arsenic, is generally low.

The enzyme polyphosphate kinase (Ppk) is responsible for poly-P synthesis, whereas poly-P degradation is carried out by the enzyme exopolyphosphatase (Ppx). In many , the Ppk-encoding gene () is found clustered together with two genes encoding putative exopolyphosphatases ( and ) each having different domain compositions, with the gene order .
