Introduction: This study evaluates the efficacy of a simplified intraoperative fluid administration metric within enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathways. The objective is to optimize fluid management to improve postoperative outcomes, specifically kidney function.
Methods: A retrospective evaluation was conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital on adult patients who underwent open hysterectomy, colectomy, and gastrectomy as part of ERAS pathways.
Background: Larsucosterol is a DNA methyltransferase inhibitor in development for alcohol-associated hepatitis (AH), a disease for which there is no approved therapy.
Methods: In this phase 2b trial, patients with severe AH were randomly assigned 1:1:1 to receive 30 mg or 90 mg of larsucosterol or placebo; a second dose was administered after 72 hours if the patient remained hospitalized. All patients received supportive care as determined by investigators.
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by the production of autoantibodies and damage to multiple organs. Glomerulonephritis, a manifestation involving glomerular deposition of immune complexes and complement components, significantly contributes to disease morbidity. Although the endosomal single-stranded RNA sensor TLR7 is known to drive glomerulonephritis by promoting autoantibody production in B cells, the contribution of macrophage TLR7 responses to glomerulonephritis remains poorly understood.

There are numerous genebanks worldwide that serve to preserve valuable plant germplasm for humankind's future and to serve as a resource for research, breeding, and training. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS) and the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) both have a network of plant germplasm collections scattered across varying geographical locations preserving genetic resources for the future.

We aimed to describe trends in racial, ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in alcohol-associated hospital encounters.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of adult hospital encounters with alcohol-associated diagnoses from three health systems between January 2016 and December 2021.
