Community health promotion and disaster recovery: a PhotoVoice project in Comerío, Puerto Rico.

Background: PhotoVoice - a series of workshops involving participatory photography and narrative-building - was employed in the rural town of Comerío, Puerto Rico (PR) to describe disaster recovery in a rural setting and foster policy dialogue.

Methods: Using PhotoVoice workshops and ethnographic observations, the project describes how women affiliated with a local community-based organization described the priorities for disaster recovery in visual images and narratives. We draw analytically upon theories of intersectionality and coloniality to describe socio-structural and community factors that shape community health in the context of ongoing disasters.

Collective behavior of an adapting synapse-based neuronal network with memristive effect and randomness.

This study delves into the examination of a network of adaptive synapse neurons characterized by a small-world network topology connected through electromagnetic flux and infused with randomness. First, this research extensively explores the existence of the global multi-stability of a single adaptive synapse-based neuron model with magnetic flux. The non-autonomous neuron model exhibits periodically switchable equilibrium states that are strongly related to the transitions between stable and unstable points in every whole periodic cycle, leading to the creation of global multi-stability.

Value-Based, No-Cost-To-Patient Neurosurgery at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Bangalore: The Success Story.

The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust (SSSCT) was founded in 1972 as a public charitable trust with the objectives of providing free education, healthcare, and public utility benefits without any discrimination. The neurosurgery department at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS), Bangalore, one of SSSCT's many hospitals, has been offering comprehensive services with state-of-the-art facilities for a diverse range of disorders since 2001. Operating on a unique "no-cost-to-patient" model and guided by an ethos of altruism introduced by its founder Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the department has successfully provided high-quality neurosurgical care to a large number of patients.

Implementation of virtual clinical pharmacy services by incorporating medical professionals and pharmacy students: A novel patient-oriented system to advance healthcare in India.

The healthcare sector is continuously evolving in pace to meet the medical needs of the society. Even though therapeutic reforms are happening, medication discrepancies are the prime cause of hospitalization. This has generated an invincible demand for clinical pharmacy services.

Tobacco use and clinical leukoplakia lesions among south Indian tribes.

Objectives: Leukoplakia is a white mucosal thickening and perhaps undermining change in the oral mucosa transcendently found in tobacco users. Since the tobacco utilization is extensively higher with the indigenous groups in the Asia Pacific locale, the current examination implicated the prevalence of tobacco consumption and leukoplakial lesions and the relationship between the two.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted through six tribal hamlets of Chithalayath Forest range at Wayanad district of Kerala, South India.
