Comparative Outcomes of Left Main and Non-Left Main Percutaneous Coronary Intervention from the Excellence in Coronary Artery Disease (XLCAD) Registry.

Background: There are limited comparative data on real-world outcomes of patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of the left main (LM) and non-LM coronary arteries.

Methods: 873 consecutive patients undergoing LM PCI (n=256) and non-LM PCI (n=617) were enrolled between September 2019-March 2023 in the Excellence in Coronary Artery Disease (XLCAD) Registry. Primary outcome was 1-year incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), a composite of all-cause death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, clinically driven repeat revascularization and ischemic stroke.

Risk of Kawasaki Disease/Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome Following COVID-19 Vaccination in Korean Children: A Self-Controlled Case Series Study.

Background: Rare cases of Kawasaki disease (KD) and multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) have been reported following the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination; however, the association between COVID-19 vaccination and the risk of developing KD/MIS-C has not yet been established.

Methods: We conducted a self-controlled case series analysis using a large-linked database that connects the COVID-19 immunization registry with nationwide claims data. We identified individuals aged < 18 years who received their initial COVID-19 vaccination and had a KD/MIS-C diagnosis with a prescription for intravenous immunoglobulin or corticosteroids between October 18, 2021, and April 15, 2023.

Enhancing RT-PCR Throughput and Sensitivity through Large-Scale Sample Pooling Using a Nano-Hybrid Membrane.

During the pandemic surge, including SARS-CoV-2 and influenza, pooling samples emerged as an efficient strategy to identify infected individuals in large groups. While pooling enhances RT-PCR throughput, reducing costs and resources, it dilutes positive samples with negative ones, lowering sensitivity and increasing false negatives. This study proposes a new method to address the trade-off between pool sizes and RT-PCR accuracy.

CT Angiography, MR Angiography, and Their Combined Use for Detection of Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms: Comparison with Digital Subtraction Angiography and 3-dimensional Rotational Angiography.

Purpose: To compare the diagnostic accuracy of CT angiography (CTA), MR angiography (MRA), and their combined use for detecting unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs).

Methods: Between September 2019 and August 2023, 235 patients suspected of having UIA underwent CTA, MRA, and digital subtraction angiography (DSA)/3-dimensional rotational angiography (3DRA). Two neuroradiologists retrospectively reviewed these images for UIA presence.
