Maternity behind and beyond bars: analysis from the perspective of protection bioethics.

Objective: to analyze how motherhood is expressed in female prison units from the perspective of Bioethics of Protection.

Method: qualitative research with an ethnographic approach, developed in two women's prison units. Participantes were: six mothers deprived of liberty, 15 health professionals, and nine prison officers.

Wilms tumor primary cultures capture phenotypic heterogeneity and facilitate preclinical screening.

Wilms tumors (WT) are characterized by variable contributions of blastemal, epithelial and stromal elements, reflecting their diverse cellular origins and genetic drivers. In vitro models remain rare, despite a growing need to better characterize tumor biology and evaluate new treatments. Using three approaches, we have now established a large collection of long-term cultures that represent this diversity.

Building Research Capacity (BRC): Purposes, Components, and Activities to Date.

The Building Research Capacity (BRC) initiative was founded in 2015 as a collaboration between the Association of Departments of Family Medicine (ADFM) and the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG). It aims to enhance family medicine research engagement by helping develop researchers, research educators, and research leaders. Through consultations, a fellowship, tailored presentations at national conferences, and ongoing assessment, BRC addresses the dynamic needs of various stakeholders in family medicine research.

The C-terminal α-helix is crucial for the activity of the bacterial ABC transporter BmrA.

ABC transporters are membrane integral proteins that consist of a transmembrane domain and nucleotide-binding domain (NBD). Two monomers (half-transporters) of the Bacillus subtilis ABC transporter Bacillus multidrug-resistance ATP (BmrA) dimerize to build a functional full-transporter. As all ABC exporters, BmrA uses the free energy of ATP hydrolysis to transport substrate molecules across the cell membrane.
