Highly oxygenated molecules (HOMs) play an important role in the formation and evolution of secondary organic aerosols (SOA). However, the abundance of HOMs in different environments and their relation to the oxidative potential of fine particulate matter (PM) are largely unknown. Methods: The use of Matrigel has been reported to enhance tumorigenicity in a variety of solid tumors.
pHo is an important determinant of vascular tone in cerebral blood vessels. We investigated the effects of changes in pHo on isolated smooth muscle cells from the basilar artery of the guinea pig. Single cells contracted rapidly in response to an elevation in pHo (constant CO2), and contraction was blocked by nifedipine, suggesting a role for dihydropyridine-sensitive Ca2+ channels.
