Introduction: The prevalence of sacroiliac joint (SIJ) pathology generating lower back pain is increasing, often requiring SI joint fusion in refractory cases. Purpose: The spine, hip, and knee are anatomically and biomechanically connected. Total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) are commonly employed to treat degenerative changes in the hip and knee, while fusion is used for spine degeneration. Spine deformity correction results in changes in sagittal alignment and pelvic parameters, and patients with stiff spines have higher rates of THA dislocation and revision due to instability.

Smalls arms propellants (SAP) also known as canister powders are readily accessible and cost-effective materials that firearms enthusiasts can acquire for the legitimate assembly of ammunition. These attributes also make SAPs advantageous for the construction of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Thus, there is a need to develop robust metrics for the characterization of propellants to provide investigative leads as well as for comparisons between known and recovered residues.

Article Synopsis
  • Subepidermal calcified nodules are a rare form of idiopathic calcinosis cutis, usually appearing as single, well-defined white-yellow nodules.
  • These nodules are often misdiagnosed based solely on their appearance, making histological confirmation important for accurate diagnosis.
  • The text presents two unique cases where these nodules appeared as cutaneous horns, highlighting the need for increased awareness since fewer than 10 similar cases have been reported in the last 30 years.
