Climate resilience through ecocultural stewardship.

The climate crisis has exacerbated many ecological and cultural problems including wildfire and drought vulnerability, biodiversity declines, and social justice and equity. While there are many concepts of social and ecological resilience, the exemplar practices of Indigenous stewardship are recognized in having sustained Indigenous peoples and their countries for millennia and past climate change events. California has been at the crossroads of many of these issues, and the historic and current contributions of Indigenous peoples to addressing these provide an excellent study of ecocultural stewardship and leadership by Indigenous peoples to achieve climate resilience.

Exploring Preclinical Medical Students' Experience Facilitating Group Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for a Student-Run Mental Health Clinic: A Qualitative Study.

Objective: This report explores the experiences of preclinical medical students who led group dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) for a student-run LGBTQ + mental health clinic.

Methods: In the clinic, experienced clinicians trained and supervised preclinical medical students to facilitate DBT groups. The authors conducted a qualitative study to understand the impact of the DBT groups on the student facilitators via semi-structured interviews, which were evaluated using thematic analysis.

Revitalising Indigenous cultural fire practice: benefits and partnerships.

Indigenous cultural fire practitioners proactively revitalise their stewardship/custodianship of their traditional territories to generate diverse social, cultural, economic, self-determination, and ecological benefits. Government, researchers, and natural resource managers can overcome ongoing colonial legacies by enabling Indigenous leadership, providing ongoing investment and removing imposed barriers that restrict cultural fire practices.

A Biomechanical Comparison of the LaPrade Technique Versus a Novel Technique for Reconstruction of Medial-Sided Knee Injuries.

Background: Medial-sided knee injuries can lead to symptomatic valgus laxity or anteromedial rotatory instability and may require surgery, particularly in the setting of cruciate tears and tibial-sided medial collateral ligament (MCL) avulsions. The LaPrade (LP) technique utilizes 2 free grafts to reconstruct the superficial MCL (sMCL) and the posterior oblique ligament (POL). An alternative MCL reconstruction devised by the senior author comprises an anatomic single-bundle reconstruction using a free graft to reconstruct the sMCL with advancement and imbrication of the posteromedial capsule/POL (MCL anatomic reconstruction with capsular imbrication [MARCI] technique).

Simultaneous Bilateral Latissimus Dorsi Tendon Ruptures: A Case Report.

Case: We report a case of a 55-year-old man who sustained bilateral, complete latissimus dorsi tendon ruptures during a water-skiing accident. Physical examination and magnetic resonance imaging confirmed the patient's diagnosis but also revealed a tear of the teres major on the left side. Staged primary repair was performed on each side, with a 6-week interval between procedures.
