Background: Milrinone is commonly prescribed to critically ill patients who need extracorporeal life support such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Currently, the effect of ECMO and CRRT on the disposition of milrinone is unknown.

Methods: Ex vivo ECMO and CRRT circuits were primed with human blood and then dosed with milrinone to study drug extraction by the circuits.

Identification of cancer subtypes is a critical step for developing precision medicine. Most cancer subtyping is based on the analysis of RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data from patient cohorts using unsupervised machine learning methods such as hierarchical cluster analysis, but these computational approaches disregard the heterogeneous composition of individual cancer samples. Here, we used a more sophisticated unsupervised Bayesian model termed latent process decomposition (LPD), which handles individual cancer sample heterogeneity and deconvolutes the structure of transcriptome data to provide clinically relevant information.

Purpose Of Review: Patella alta, which describes an abnormally proximally positioned patella, has become of particular interest as it has been identified as a potential factor in patellofemoral instability (PFI) and other common pediatric orthopedic conditions. The purpose of this review is to describe the condition, measuring techniques, and its association with pediatric orthopedic conditions, and to evaluate methods of correction of patella alta.

Recent Findings: Recent literature has explored the etiology of patella alta by investigating patellar height as age increases, with inconclusive findings as to whether the condition is congenital or acquired over time.

Background: The relationships among treatment exposures, body composition, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in adult survivors of Wilms tumor have not been well studied.

Methods: We evaluated body composition with dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and eGFR with the updated Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration equations (creatinine only-eGFR, cystatin C only-eGFR, creatinine and cystatin C-eGFR) without race in 134 adults previously treated for unilateral, non-syndromic Wilms tumor at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital between 1964 and 2004 with chemotherapy and with (hemiabdomen [HA] or whole abdomen [WA]) or without radiation therapy (RT).
