Scientific bodies overseeing UV radiation protection recommend safety limits for exposure to ultraviolet light in the workplace based on published peer-reviewed data. To support this goal, a 3D model of the human cornea was used to assess the wavelength dependence of corneal damage induced by UVC light. In the first set of experiments the models were exposed with or without simulated tears; at each wavelength (215-255 nm) cells with DNA dimers and their distribution within the epithelium were measured.

Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are essential for maintaining immune homeostasis, playing crucial roles in modulating autoimmune conditions and contributing to the suppressive tumor microenvironment. Their cellular metabolism governs their generation, stability, proliferation, and suppressive function. Enhancing Treg metabolism to boost their suppressive function offers promising therapeutic potential for alleviating inflammatory symptoms in autoimmune diseases.

Screening and early detection is one of the most effective approaches to reduce the population-level impact of cancer. Novel approaches to screening such as multi-cancer early detection tests (MCEDs) may further reduce cancer incidence and mortality. Many MCEDs detect fragments of circulating DNA containing mutations that originated from tumour cells, thereby informing both the presence of cancer and the cell-type of origin.

Background/objectives: Risk prediction models (RPMs) for colorectal cancer (CRC) could facilitate risk-based screening. Models incorporating biomarkers may improve the utility of current RPMs. We performed a systematic review of studies reporting RPMs for CRC that evaluated the impact of blood-based biomarkers on clinical outcome prediction at the time of screening colonoscopy in average-risk populations.
