Objectives: The objectives of this study were to determine the bronchial mucus transport velocities in ventilated ICU patients and to study the possible role of impaired mucus transport in the development of retention of secretion and pneumonia.
Design: The patients were studied prospectively in a convenience sample trial.
Setting: The study took place at a university hospital.

In a prospective study 9 patients, who were going to have a synovectomy for rheumatoid arthritis of the knee, underwent dual photon absorptiometry before, and at intervals after, operation. This determined the degree of juxta-articular osteoporosis quantitatively. The density was compared to a control group with normal knees.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFrom February to November 1981 the diagnostic relevance of ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) was compared prospectively in 75 patients with suspected pancreatic disease. Final diagnosis was confirmed by autopsy, surgery, clinical course, and further laboratory data. Thus it was possible to exclude pancreatic disorders in 32 patients.
