Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a novel disease that had devastating effects on human lives and the country's economies worldwide. This disease shows similar parasitic traits, requiring the host's biomolecules for its survival and propagation. Spike glycoproteins severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2 spike protein) located on the surface of the COVID-19 virus serve as a potential hotspot for antiviral drug development based on their structure.

Platelet-derived growth factors (PDGFs) are reported to induce fibroblast proliferation, myofibroblast differentiation, and fibrosis. However, we have previously shown that PDGFs improve heart function post-MI without increasing fibrosis.

This article reports on the interaction of 50 and 210 nm polystyrene nanoparticles (PSNPs) with human serum albumin (HSA) and transferrin (Tf), as well as their effect on supported lipid bilayers (SLBs), using experimental and theoretical approaches. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurements show that the increase in diameter for the PSNP-protein bioconjugates depends on nanoparticle size and type of proteins.

While previous CST interventions have been conducted largely with community populations, none have explored the outcomes of CST in larger healthcare settings. Our study explored differences of cognitive function, mood, and quality-of-life from CST groups both community and residential-based groups.

Methods: Student participants (SPs) were recruited over five semesters to create and deliver iCST sessions to geriatric participants (GPs) for 10 weeks. Likert scale survey items and open-ended questions were used to evaluate the success of the SPs.
