The impact of demographics and positioning on the imaging features of the optic nerve sheath and ophthalmic vessels.

Background: There are significant discrepancies in the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) reported in the literature. We aimed to determine the ultrasonographic imaging features of ONSD and ophthalmic vessels in a healthy population, using a standardized protocol, and to estimate the effect of demographics and positioning changes on imaging measurements.

Methods: We measured the mean values of the ONSD in supine and sitting position and the Doppler imaging parameters of the ophthalmic, central retinal and short posterior ciliary arteries.

Geographical equity in Ethiopian infant feeding practices: a secondary analysis of a birth cohort study.

Objectives: To assess the geographical equity in Ethiopian infants' exclusive breastfeeding at 5 months and dietary diversity at 12 months and whether social factors explained the spatial inequities.

Design: Secondary analysis of a birth cohort study.

Setting: Analysis of data from the Ethiopian Performance Monitoring for Action panel study conducted from July 2020 to August 2021 in five regions (ie, Oromia, Amhara, Afar and Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples regions and the Addis Ababa City administration).

Decentralizing and task sharing within the primary health system improved access and quality of ANC services in Amhara and Oromia regions: pre-post health facility data.

Background: Improved access to quality antenatal care (ANC) promotes healthy behaviors and early complication management, enhancing maternal and newborn outcomes. The Enhancing Nutrition and Antenatal Infection Treatment for Maternal and Child Health (ENAT) intervention in Ethiopia aimed to increase newborn birth weight by improving ANC utilization and quality. ENAT task shared and decentralized ANC services to facilitate early contact and point of care (POC) testing and management of maternal infections and anemia.

Radiologic Clue to Cavernous Sinus Hemangioma Diagnosis.

We describe a case of a 57-year-old woman presenting initially with diplopia who later developed retro-orbital and retroauricular pain. Examination showed right abducens nerve palsy and subsequent right trigeminal nerve hyperesthesia. Neuroimaging revealed a well-defined mass confined to the right cavernous sinus, with high T2 signal intensity and homogeneous enhancement on postgadolinium T1-weighted images.

Repair of Contained Rupture of an Infrarenal Aortic Aneurysm Using Autologous Superficial Femoral Vein.

Introduction: Contained ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (CR-AAA) refers to an acute aortic wall disruption leading to expansion of perivascular haematoma that is sealed off by peri-aortic structures. Low and middle income countries have a critical gap in managing abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). In Ethiopia, AAA screening is not routine and open surgical repair (OSR) using donated grafts remains the only treatment option.
