We investigated the association of preimplant left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) with outcomes after HeartMate 3 (HM3) left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. Patients from the European Registry for Patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support (EUROMACS) registry who underwent HM3 implantation from August 2014 to February 2023 (n = 834) were analyzed according to preoperative LVEDD: less than or equal to 65 (n = 251), 65-80 (n = 441), and greater than or equal to 80 mm (n = 142). The mean age was 54.

Although yerba mate has been known and used for hundreds of years, not all of its properties have been fully understood yet. Yerba mate is a source of many desirable substances, but it may also contain toxic metals and other substances that are harmful to health. Fifteen samples of yerba mate tea from three South American countries were analyzed.

The quantum-dot-in-perovskite matrix (DIM) is an emerging class of semiconductors for optoelectronics enabled by their complementary charge transport properties and stability improvements. However, a detailed understanding of the pure electrical properties in DIM is still in its early stage. Here, we developed PbS quantum dot-in-CsSnI matrix solids exhibiting improved electrical properties and enhanced stability.

Article Synopsis
  • Organic solar cells with small molecule acceptors have improved power conversion efficiency, but stability issues hinder their broader use in renewable energy.
  • The review discusses the degradation of various layers in these solar cells due to factors like light, heat, moisture, and oxygen, focusing on the chemical breakdown of polymer donors and small molecule acceptors, as well as the stability of the bulk heterojunction structure.
  • Strategies to reduce degradation effects are outlined, along with future research directions needed to enhance the durability and performance of organic solar cells for practical use.
