Giant oscillations of energy levels in mesoscopic superconductors.

The interplay of geometrical and Andreev quantization in mesoscopic superconductors leads to giant mesoscopic oscillations of energy levels as functions of the Fermi momentum and/or sample size. Quantization rules are formulated for closed quasiparticle trajectories in the presence of normal scattering at the sample boundaries. Two generic examples of mesoscopic systems are studied: (i) one-dimensional Andreev states in a quantum box and (ii) a single vortex in a mesoscopic cylinder.

Regulated chromatin domain comprising cluster of co-expressed genes in Drosophila melanogaster.

Recently, the phenomenon of clustering of co-expressed genes on chromosomes was discovered in eukaryotes. To explore the hypothesis that genes within clusters occupy shared chromatin domains, we performed a detailed analysis of transcription pattern and chromatin structure of a cluster of co-expressed genes. [Effects of parathyroid hormone and parathyroid hypertensive factor on myocardial mechanical properties in normotensive rats].

After a 10-minute incubation, both the parathyroid hypertensive factor (PHF) and parathyroid hormone (PTH) reduced myocardial contractility and accelerated myocardial relaxation. Effects of the PTH and PHF on myocardial inotropic characteristics were of opposite directions.
