Presurgical management trends and nasoalveolar molding usage for infants with cleft lip and palate in the capital of a developing country.

Backgrounds: Nasoalveolar molding (NAM) application is among presurgical management (PSM) techniques used for infants with cleft lip and palate (CLP). It helps to approximate the palatal cleft and to reshape the nasoalveolar complex prior to primary lip repair. This study aimed to explore types of PSM and the dental speciality provision for infants with CLP in Baghdad.

Validity and reliability of three-dimensional modeling of orthodontic dental casts using smartphone-based photogrammetric technology.

Background: The development of intraoral scanning technology has effectively enhanced the digital documentation of orthodontic dental casts. Albeit, the expense of this technology is the main limitation. The purpose of the present study was to assess the validity and reliability of virtual three-dimensional (3D) models of orthodontic dental casts, which were constructed using smartphone-based 3D photogrammetry.

The Characterisation of the Craniofacial Morphology of Infants Born With Zika Virus; Innovative Approach for Public Health Surveillance and Broad Clinical Applications.

This study was carried out in response to the Zika virus epidemic, which constituted a public health emergency, and to the 2019 WHO calling for strengthened surveillance for the early detection of related microcephaly. The main aim of the study was to phenotype the craniofacial morphology of microcephaly using a novel approach and new measurements, and relate the characteristics to brain abnormalities in Zika-infected infants in Brazil to improve clinical surveillance. 3D images of the face and the cranial vault of 44 Zika-infected infants and matched healthy controls were captured using a 3D stereophotogrammetry system.

The effect of facial expression on facial symmetry in surgically managed unilateral cleft lip and palate patients (UCLP).

Aim: To evaluate the symmetry of facial expression in surgically managed UCLP patients.

Materials And Methods: The study was conducted on 13 four-year-old children. Facial images were captured at rest and at maximum smile using stereophotogrammetry.
