Aims: Metformin is the most widely used drug for the first-line treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), but its use and schedule have been poorly investigated in elderly patients.
Methods: We conducted an observational, cross-sectional, multicentric study on metformin in T2DM outpatients older than 65 years who were taking the drug for at least 6 months and referred to Italian Endocrinology and Diabetology Services. The primary endpoint was daily metformin dose, and secondary endpoints were the correlations between metformin dose and age, comorbidities, and concomitant use of other drugs.

Objective: To evaluate the basal/total ratio of daily insulin dose (b/T) in outpatients with diabetes type 1 (DM1) and type 2 (DM2) on basal-bolus regimen, by investigating whether there is a relationship with HbA1c and episodes of hypoglycemia.
Methods: Multicentric, observational, cross-sectional study in Italy. Adult DM1 ( = 476) and DM2 ( = 541) outpatients, with eGFR >30 mL/min/1.
Background: Everolimus, an oral mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) inhibitor, is currently approved for the treatment of progressive pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Although promising, only scattered data, often from nondedicated studies, are available for extrapancreatic NETs.
Patients And Methods: A systematic review of the published data was performed concerning the use of everolimus in extrapancreatic NET, with the aim of summarizing the current knowledge on its efficacy and tolerability.
Background: Although replacement treatment with L-thyroxine (LT4) seems easy to manage, about one-third of hypothyroid patients show thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) values outside the normal range.
Objectives: To explore whether LT4 liquid formulation (monodose vials or drops) affects TSH stability values and to assess its ability to maintain TSH within the normal range compared to tablets.
Methods: A total of 100 hypothyroid patients on replacement treatment with LT4 liquid solution were enrolled (Liquid Group) at a follow-up visit (revisit).
