A posterior polar cataract is a discoid posterior polar plaque-like cataract with a thin and fragile to absent posterior capsule with adherent acellular opacity to the capsule reported in the literature. It is a stationary or slowly progressive opacity. A higher risk of complications such as posterior capsular tear and nucleus drop makes this a challenging surgery.

Article Synopsis
  • - Continuous circular capsulorhexis (CCC) was first developed in the 1980s by Thomas Neuhann, Kimiya Shimizu, and Howard Gimbel, with significant mention in their collaborative paper.
  • - The technique involves creating a stable, viscoelastic-filled anterior chamber using a tunnel method that prevents leaking and maintains pressure, making it suitable for beginners.
  • - CCC is particularly beneficial for challenging cataract surgeries, including cases with shallow anterior chambers, small pupils, and conditions like pseudoexfoliation and phacomorphic glaucoma.

Introduction: Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) is a validated tool enabling clinicians for prediction of adverse events posttherapy. In this study, we planned to estimate the predictive value of age-adjusted CCI (ACCI) in assessing the perioperative complication in oncological patients undergoing major pelvic surgeries.

Methods: This was a single arm, prospective, observational study, in which adult patients with pelvic malignancies undergoing pelvic surgeries were selected.
