Nanomaterials composed of non-nutritive elements are gaining momentum in agriculture. In view of these advances, this study aimed to synthesize and assess the effects of silver (Ag) and cobalt (Co) nanoparticles as seed treatment in maize crops. Nanoparticles were synthesized by coprecipitation and characterized by X-ray diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy, surface area analysis, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy.

Thiocyanate may have played as important a role as cyanide in the synthesis of several molecules. However, its concentration in the seas of the prebiotic Earth could have been very low. Thiocyanate was dissolved in two different seawaters: a) a composition that comes close to the seawater of the prebiotic Earth (seawater-B, Ca and Cl) and b) a seawater (seawater-A, Mg and SO) that could be related to the seas of Mars and other moons in the solar system.

Liver metabolism is disrupted by obesity, and increased levels of circulating glucocorticoids are pointed as a possible mediator for the obesity development, since bilateral adrenalectomy (ADX) can reduce obesity in different models of obesity. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of glucocorticoids on metabolic changes and liver lipogenesis and insulin pathway induced by lactation overnutrition.
