Introduction: Ethiopia has a rapidly growing small ruminant sector, which faces low productivity due to husbandry practices and poor health condition of the animals. A study was conducted in Ethiopia's largest municipal abattoir with the objective to assess the health problems of sheep and goats presented for slaughter using standard ante-mortem and post-mortem methodology.

Methods: A cross-sectional study using systematic random sampling was conducted on 384 sheep and 384 goats from January to July 2014.

The use of therapy or service dogs to assist children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is increasing in clinical settings. Research studies indicate that children with ASD display enhanced prosocial behavior and emotional regulation when canines are included in therapy. Despite increased application of animal-assisted therapy in clinical and inpatient settings, healthcare providers show limited understanding of best practices for its use and require a research-based approach to incorporate animals effectively into therapeutic plans of care for pediatric patients with ASD.

Legionnaires' disease is an atypical pneumonia caused by Legionella pneumophila ( pneumonia that features slow onset, nonproductive cough, fatigue, headache, sore throat, myalgias, and malaise. Here, we present the case of a previously healthy 32-year-old Caucasian male with Legionnaires disease who only presented to the clinic with abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Early-stage antibody discovery and engineering typically require the cloning, expression, and screening of large numbers of proteins. Normally, DNA fragments encoding proteins of interest are cloned into extra-chromosomal plasmids that are amplified in Escherichia coli. Following purification from the bacteria, the plasmids are introduced into appropriate cells, and the expressed recombinant proteins screened for desired binding or function in a high-throughput manner.

We demonstrate that secure multi-party computation (MPC) using garbled circuits is viable technology for solving clinical use cases that require cross-institution data exchange and collaboration. We describe two MPC protocols, based on Yao's garbled circuits and tested using large and realistically synthesized datasets. Linking records using private set intersection (PSI), we compute two metrics often used in patient risk stratification: high utilizer identification (PSI-HU) and comorbidity index calculation (PSI-CI).
