Examination of 307 patients with trophic and sluggish wounds showed that the use of a focussed carbohydrate laser beam with an energy density of 800-1000 J/cm2 makes it possible to remove pyonecrotic masses and microbial flora from the wound surface in one-stage, rapidly, without bleeding and without injury to the underlying healthy tissues and, in most cases, to make it sterile. A defocused beam of this laser applied locally with an energy density of radiation ranging from 0.5 to 2.
