With the impending 'retirement' of bronchial thermoplasty (BT) for the treatment of patients with asthma, there is much to learn from this real-world experiment that will help us develop more effective future therapies with the same primary target i.e., airway smooth muscle (ASM) remodelling.

Total Knee Replacements (TKRs) are a commonly used treatment to help patients suffering from severely damaged knee joints, which is normally brought on by osteoarthritis. The aim of the surgery is to reduce pain and regain function of the joint, however, some of these implants fail prematurely with implant wear being one of the main factors of failure. Computational analysis is an efficient tool that can provide an in-depth insight on the evolution of wear, before utilising experimental techniques which are time-consuming and costly.

A Case Series of Patients Undergoing Bronchial Thermoplasty a Second Time for Severe Asthma.

Bronchial thermoplasty is a treatment option for patients with severe asthma. We report a case series of 6 patients who underwent bronchial thermoplasty on two separate occasions for poorly controlled asthma. The repeat procedures were well tolerated with no unexpected complications.

Purpose: Bronchial thermoplasty (BT) is a bronchoscopic intervention for the treatment of severe asthma. Despite demonstrated symptomatic benefit, the underlying mechanisms by which this is achieved remain uncertain. We hypothesize that the effects of BT are driven by improvements in ventilation heterogeneity as assessed using functional respiratory imaging (FRI).

Total Hip Arthroplasty has been a revolutionary technique in restoring mobility to patients with damaged hip joints. The introduction of modular components of the hip prosthesis allowed for bespoke solutions based on the requirements of the patient. The femoral stem is designed with a conical trunnion to allow for assembly of different femoral head sizes based on surgical requirements.
