State Medicaid Policies Governing Access to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) and MOUD Treatment Use in a Large Sample of People Who Inject Drugs in 20 U.S. States.

Background: People who inject drugs (PWID) are especially vulnerable to harms from opioid use disorder (OUD). Medications for OUD (MOUD) effectively reduce overdose and infectious disease transmission risks.

Objective: We investigate whether state Medicaid coverage for methadone and buprenorphine is related to past-year MOUD use among PWID using cross-sectional, multilevel analyses with individual-level data on PWID from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's 2018 National HIV Behavioral Surveillance.

Associations of discomfort intolerance, discomfort avoidance, and cannabis and alcohol use among persons with chronic pain receiving prescription buprenorphine for opioid use disorder.

Background: Chronic pain and non-prescribed substance use are associated with lower retention in opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment. We examined the associations of perceived capacity to tolerate uncomfortable physical sensations (discomfort intolerance and discomfort avoidance) and cannabis and alcohol use among persons with chronic pain receiving prescription buprenorphine for OUD.

Methods: This study utilizes baseline data from 163 persons with chronic pain receiving prescription buprenorphine for OUD enrolled in the Treating Opioid use, Persistent Pain, and Sadness (TOPPS) intervention trial.

Structure and Antigenicity of the Porcine Astrovirus 4 Capsid Spike.

Porcine astrovirus 4 (PoAstV4) has been recently associated with respiratory disease in pigs. In order to understand the scope of PoAstV4 infections and to support the development of a vaccine to combat PoAstV4 disease in pigs, we designed and produced a recombinant PoAstV4 capsid spike protein for use as an antigen in serological assays and for potential future use as a vaccine antigen. Structural prediction of the full-length PoAstV4 capsid protein guided the design of the recombinant PoAstV4 capsid spike domain expression plasmid.

Factors associated with Ontario dairy producers' management and care of down dairy cattle.

The objective of this study was to better understand current management practices for down cows in Ontario, Canada, and to identify factors associated with the adoption of acceptable practices. An online survey was distributed to all dairy producers in Ontario, Canada (n = 3,367) and was available from November 2020 to March 2021, inclusive. Dairy producers were identified through their provincial dairy organization and contacted via email, and the survey was also promoted via social media.
