Article Synopsis
  • Paraneoplastic pemphigus (PNP) is a rare autoimmune disorder linked mainly to Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas, typically seen in adults aged 45 to 70.
  • A review of 87 articles focused on PNP's oral symptoms, highlighting important histological (microscopic tissue structure) and serological (blood test) findings.
  • Key insights indicate that PNP is frequently diagnosed before any associated cancers, with the follicular variant of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma being the most common connection, necessitating better diagnostic criteria and serological testing methods.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigated the oral signs and symptoms associated with paraneoplastic syndromes by analyzing data from various medical databases.

  • The findings indicate a high prevalence of mortality (50.9%) and a notable remission rate (63.4%) after treatment, highlighting the need for further research to improve diagnosis and patient care.

Cerebrovascular accident is the most ominous complication observed after cardiac surgery, carrying an increased risk of morbidity and mortality. Analysis of the problem shows its multidimensional nature. In this study, we aimed to identify major determinants among classic variables, either demographic, clinical or type of surgical procedure, based on the analysis of a large dataset of 580,117 patients from the UK National Adult Cardiac Surgical Audit (NACSA).

Introduction: The optimal definitive radiotherapy (RT) scheme in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) remains controversial, especially in elderly patients.

Methods: Data of elderly patients with cSCC lesion(s) treated with weekly hypofractionated RT (8 Gy per week per 7-8 weeks) were analyzed.

Results: Eighteen patients (median age 89 years) with 23 cSCC lesions have been identified including nine males (50%) and nine females (50%).
