[Differences in the distribution of proviruses in low- and highly- metastatic variants of hamster cells, transformed by Rous sarcoma virus].

The structure of provirus in Syrian hamster cells, transformed by Rous sarcoma virus (RSV) varying in metastatic capability in vivo has been analysed. The original cell line and its low metastatic variants contain only one copy of the integrated RSV genome. The DNA of highly metastatic cell lines cloned from the same primary culture, contain an additional copy of provirus.

Interstrain restriction fragment length polymorphism of c-fos and c-src oncogene loci in spontaneously hypertensive and normotensive rats.

Interstrain restriction fragment length polymorphism was detected after Southern blot hybridization of spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) and control (WKY) rat DNA digested by Bam HI restrictase with a v-fos probe. The SHR genome was characterized by an additional minor band of 4.0 kb.

BrdU-induced changes in the provirus of PR-RSV in mammalian cells.

Previously we demonstrated differences in the organization and methylation pattern of integrated Rous sarcoma proviral sequences in helper-dependent virogenic rat TWERC cells. In the present study we attempted to induce changes in the integrated viral genome of TWERC cells using 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU). Four clones (A, B, C, and F) derived from the parental cell line were treated for 10 months with different concentrations of BrdU.

[Identification of virus-specific RNA in cells infected with the bovine leukemia virus by nucleic acid hybridization in situ].

Virus-specific RNA was detected in FLK cells producing bovine leukemia virus (BLV) by cDNA hybridization in situ. For calculation of the virus-specific RNA copy number in infected cells hybridization of 3H-cDNA BLV with the total cellular RNA in solution was used. FLK cells contain approximately 600 copies of virus-specific RNA per cell.
