Binocular vision requires that the brain integrate information coming from each eye. These images are combined (fused) to generate a meaningful composite image. Differences between images, within a range, provide useful information about depth (stereopsis).

Assessment of Coronary Microcirculation with High Frame-Rate Contrast-Enhanced Echocardiography.

Objective: Assessing myocardial perfusion in acute myocardial infarction is important for guiding clinicians in choosing appropriate treatment strategies. Echocardiography can be used due to its direct feedback and bedside nature, but it currently faces image quality issues and an inability to differentiate coronary macro- from micro-circulation. We previously developed an imaging scheme using high frame-rate contrast-enhanced ultrasound (HFR CEUS) with higher order singular value decomposition (HOSVD) that provides dynamic perfusion and vascular flow visualization.

Continent catheterizable channels: Does "hitching" the bladder reduce complications?

Background: Continent catheterizable channels (CCC) are a mainstay for reconstruction in patients with neurogenic bladders. Common complications include false passage, channel stenosis/difficult catheterization, channel incontinence, and stomal stenosis. This may result in the need for surgical revision or replacement.

End-stage and chronic kidney disease in classic bladder exstrophy: A retrospective muti-institutional cohort study.

Introduction: While most children with classic bladder exstrophy (CBE) are born with normal kidneys, some experience renal deterioration in adulthood. Little is known about the incidence of end-stage and chronic kidney disease (ESKD and CKD, respectively) in this population. Our group has recently published on surgical outcomes in a multi-institutional cohort of 216 people with CBE.
