This study introduces a method for synthesizing electrically conductive hydrogels by incorporating a self-assembled, percolating graphene network. Our approach differs from previous approaches in two crucial aspects: using pristine graphene rather than graphene oxide and self-assembling the percolation network rather than creating random networks by blending. We use pristine graphene at an oil-water interface to stabilize a water-in-oil emulsion, successfully creating hydrogel foams with conductivities up to 15 mS m and tunable porosity.

Hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) is a two-dimensional material isoelectric to graphene. It has a hexagonal structure with alternating boron and nitrogen atoms and is electrically insulating, thermally conductive, and chemically inert. However, like graphene, its use as a functional nanofiller requires exfoliation.

Purpose: Patients present with sexual and reproductive health needs in a variety of clinical settings, so knowing when and how to elicit a relevant sexual history is critical in any specialty. This work examined whether reinforcing the surgical relevance of sexual health with an integrated training improved third-year medical students' sexual history-taking.

Method: Third-year surgery clerkship standardized patient assessments were video coded from a 2021-2022 comparison and 2022-2023 intervention cohort (University of Louisville School of Medicine).

Article Synopsis
  • Despite advancements in treatment, ischaemic heart disease remains the top cause of illness and death among women, with many being underdiagnosed and undertreated.
  • Women face unique risk factors that increase their cardiovascular risk, necessitating a tailored approach in healthcare that includes both traditional and female-specific considerations.
  • The British Cardiovascular Society aims to highlight sex-related differences in CVD management, proposing solutions to improve access to diagnosis and treatment for women and encouraging further research on gender disparities in cardiovascular health.

Protected areas such as national parks constitute an increasing land mass globally, but these areas are under increasing threat from climate change events such as drought, flooding, and bushfires. The recent Yosemite National Park fires in California provide an example of this issue. After any such disaster, authorities will need to restore those protected areas to their former state at significant costs within any public funding cycle.
