Background: Low return to competitive sport, high reinjury rates and long-term functional impairment of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) present significant challenges for patients. A program that facilitates a safe return to sport (RTS) following ACLR could potentially improve outcomes.

Study Design: Case Series.

Article Synopsis
  • * Fish are a vital source of essential nutrients but are often overlooked; understanding their nutrient composition could help address food and nutrition security issues.
  • * The study reveals that specific environmental conditions and fish species characteristics influence nutrient levels, indicating that enhancing fish-based food strategies could greatly benefit populations with inadequate nutrient intake, particularly children.

Alveolar ridge deficiency hampers placement of dental implants in functionally optimal position. This warrants hard-tissue augmentation using bone grafts. Lately, the use of autogenous tooth bone graft material is gaining a momentum.

Background: For the first time in India, allografts from human extracted teeth were prepared. A randomized, prospective, clinicoradiographical, histological study was conducted to evaluate their efficacy in comparison with freeze-dried bone allograft (FDBA) in alveolar ridge preservation.

Materials And Methods: Graft preparation: with written consent, teeth were collected from three donors (full mouth extraction cases).

In human-dominated landscapes, interactions and perceptions towards wildlife are influenced by multidimensional drivers. Understanding these drivers could prove useful for wildlife conservation. We surveyed the attitudes and perceptions of fishers towards threatened Irrawaddy dolphins (Orcaella brevirostris) at Chilika Lagoon India.

Multistate outbreaks of Escherichia coli O157:H7 infection in 2005 and 2006 associated with fresh and especially minimally processed produce greatly escalated the application of rapid pathogen detection systems to safety management in this food category. Pathogen testing was rapidly integrated into preharvest qualification for field lots, incoming raw produce, or final product. The raw produce and final product were incorporated into test-and-hold programs, typically within a 10-h time frame.

Commercial turkey flocks in North Carolina have been found to be colonized frequently with Campylobacter coli strains that are resistant to several antimicrobials (tetracycline, streptomycin, erythromycin, kanamycin, and ciprofloxacin/nalidixic acid). Such strains have been designated multidrug resistant (MDR). However, the population structure of MDR C.

Lyophilised, irradiated bone allografts available for the first time in the country from the Tata Memorial Hospital Tissue Bank were used in 30 paediatric patients from January 2001 to August 2004. They included 20 patients of scoliosis of various origin and ten with assorted orthopaedic conditions including one congenital kyphosis, two Pott's spine, one Perthes disease, one developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), one infective non-union, one fibrous dysplasia and three with bone defects either due to trauma, a cyst or removal of hardware. Morsellised allograft was used in 28 patients.

Many real-world networks are characterized by adaptive changes in their topology depending on the state of their nodes. Here we study epidemic dynamics on an adaptive network, where the susceptibles are able to avoid contact with the infected by rewiring their network connections. This gives rise to assortative degree correlation, oscillations, hysteresis, and first order transitions.

The dynamics of colonization of turkeys by thermophilic campylobacters that are resistant to multiple antibiotics is poorly understood. In this study, we monitored cecal colonization of turkeys by Campylobacter over three successive production cycles at the same farm. Campylobacter isolated from the ceca was predominantly C.

A Tissue Bank is a valuable adjunct to tumour management. In bone tumours, the defects produced by ablative surgery can be reconstructed using banked tissue, thereby obviating the donor site morbidity associated with autografts. Allografts are especially useful in large defects or in children where the quantity of available autograft is limited.

Tumour excision leaves behind large defects. Allografts provide an excellent alternative to autografts without donor site morbidity and are especially useful in large defects or in children where the quantity of available autograft is limited. In this paper we discuss our experience with indigenously procured and processed lyophilised, irradiated bone allografts.
