Coronary artery calcium (CAC) score is a neglected biomarker that can be derived from non-cardiac chest computed tomography scan and represents a surrogate for atherosclerosis. We created a simulation model using different CAC score values in the MESA coronary artery risk score in a population derived from the Fourier Trial. CAC score could modulate the sample sizes of cardiovascular trials in primary and secondary prevention and offer new primary prevention treatments to high-risk subjects with reasonable numbers needed to treat comparable to secondary prevention trials.

We applied phenomapping to the DAVID-Berg population, comprising subjects with preclinical HF, aiming to refine HF risk stratification.
Methods: The DAVID-Berg study prospectively enrolled 596 asymptomatic outpatients with EF > 40% with hypertension, diabetes mellitus or known cardiovascular disease.
Moderate aortic stenosis is associated with a worse prognosis than milder degrees. Pathophysiologically, this condition in a dysfunctional ventricle could lead to a further mechanism of haemodynamic worsening, so its treatment should lead to clinical advantages for the patient. The low risk of complications associated with percutaneous correction of aortic valve disease (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) should also be considered, which would seem to favour an interventional approach even in the aforementioned condition.

Myeloproliferative neoplasms, including polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, and myelofibrosis, are characterized by somatic gene mutations in bone marrow stem cells, which trigger an inflammatory response influencing the development of associated cardiovascular complications. Cardiovascular risk factors, parity, estrogen levels, cardiac physiology, and altered response to the immune system may be at the root of this difference. This new approach offers advantages such as rapid introduction and titration, better tolerability, and early instrumental re-evaluation. From a cohort of 1352 consecutive patients admitted with Covid-19 to Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo, Italy, between February and April 2020, we selected and studied hypertensive patients to assess whether antecedent (prior to hospitalization) use of RASIs might affect mortality from Covid-19 according to age.
Methods And Results: Arterial hypertension was present in 688 patients.
