New methoxylated oligosilyl-substituted metallocenes were synthesized by the reaction of two oligosilanides with different metallocene dichlorides (M = Ti, Zr, and Hf). The first investigated tris(trimethoxysilyl)silanide [(MeO)Si]SiK () underwent a selective monosubstitution to the respective oligosilyl-decorated metallocenes [(MeO)Si]SiMClCp (-). Surprisingly, the attempted disilylation with this silanide was not possible.

A solvent-free procedure for the formation of amides without exclusion of air and moisture is described. Using tetramethoxysilane 1, hexamethoxydisilane 2 and dodecamethoxy-neopentasilane 3 as coupling agent carboxylic acids and amines are reacted to form amides in good to excellent yields. The formation of these amides was confirmed by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.

There is an increasing interest to replace precious metal-based catalysts by earth-abundant nonprecious metals due to higher costs, toxicity, and declining availability of the former. Here, the synthesis of a well-defined supported nickel hydrogenation catalyst prepared by surface organometallic chemistry is reported. For this purpose, [LNi(μ-H)] (L = HC(CMeNCH(Pr))) was grafted on partially dehydroxylated silica to give a homobimetallic H- and O(silica)-bridged Ni complex.

Macacine herpesvirus or B Virus (BV) is a zoonotic agent that leads to high mortality rates in humans if transmitted and untreated. Here, BV is used as a test case to establish a two-step procedure for developing high throughput serological assays based on synthetic peptides. In step 1, peptide microarray analysis of 42 monkey sera (30 of them tested BV positive by ELISA) revealed 1148 responses against 369 different peptides.

Background Although B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) is used as complimentary diagnostic tool in patients with unknown thoracic disorders, many other factors appear to trigger its release. In particular, it remains unresolved to what extent cellular stretch or wall stress of the whole heart contributes to enhanced serum BNP concentration.
