Successful prevention of BK-polyomavirus nephropathy using extracorporeal photopheresis for immunosuppression minimisation following severe BK polyomavirus replication after kidney transplantation in a double lung transplant recipient, a case report.

Background: BK-polyomavirus (BKpyV) nephropathy (BKVN) is associated with end-stage kidney disease in kidney and non-kidney solid organ transplantation, with no curative treatment.

Case Presentation: A 45-year-old woman with a past medical history of double lung transplantation subsequently developed end-stage kidney disease, of undetermined origin. One month after receiving a kidney transplant, a diagnosis of early BKVN was suspected, and in retrospect was a reasonable cause for the loss of her native kidneys.

Global registration of kidneys in 3D ultrasound and CT images.

Purpose: Automatic registration between abdominal ultrasound (US) and computed tomography (CT) images is needed to enhance interventional guidance of renal procedures, but it remains an open research challenge. We propose a novel method that doesn't require an initial registration estimate (a global method) and also handles registration ambiguity caused by the organ's natural symmetry. Combined with a registration refinement algorithm, this method achieves robust and accurate kidney registration while avoiding manual initialization.

Clinical Reproducibility of the Stone Volume Measurement: A "Kidney Stone Calculator" Study.

Background: An accurate estimation of the stone burden is the key factor for predicting retrograde intra-renal surgical outcomes. Volumetric calculations better stratify stone burden than linear measurements. We developed a free software to assess the stone volume and estimate the lithotrity duration according to 3D-segmented stone volumes, namely the Kidney Stone Calculator (KSC).

Performing an early systematic Doppler-ultrasound fails to prevent hemorrhagic complications after complex partial nephrectomy.

Background: The aim of this work was to assess the clinical relevance of a systematic postoperative Doppler-ultrasound (DU) after complex partial nephrectomy (PN).

Materials And Methods: All patients who underwent open, laparoscopic or robotic PN from 2014 to 2017 at our institution were included. Postoperative hemorrhagic complications (HCs) were defined as the occurrence of blood transfusion, hemorrhagic shock, arterial embolization, or re-hospitalization for hematoma.
