Background: Structured aftercare programs are implemented to facilitate the transition from rehabilitation centers to patients' home environments. Taking the program GeRas as an example, this paper aims to evaluate the influence of patient-related factors on the implementation of the geriatric aftercare program GeRas from patients' and providers' perspectives.
Methods: To capture patients' and providers' perspectives, qualitative interviews were conducted using a semi-structured interview guide.

Background/objectives: The Refeeding Syndrome (RFS) is a serious complication in patients receiving nutrition support after a period of severe malnutrition. We frequently recognize and diagnose the RFS due to increased awareness. Thus, we observe that many physicians do not know the RFS and that it is rarely diagnosed.

Objectives: The incidence of refeeding syndrome (RFS) in older patients is not well-known. The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of known risk factors for RFS in older individuals during hospitalization at geriatric hospital departments.
Design And Setting: 342 consecutive older participants (222 females) who admitted at acute geriatric hospital wards were included in a cross-sectional study.
Background & Aims: Despite the high prevalence of malnutrition among older hospitalized persons, it is unknown how many of these malnourished patients are at risk of developing the refeeding syndrome (RFS). In this study, we sought to compare the prevalence and severity of malnutrition among older hospitalized patients with prevalence of known risk factors of RFS.
Methods: This cross-sectional multicenter-study investigated older participants who were consecutively admitted to the geriatric acute care ward.
With human genome mapping, the omics revolution and the empowering sequencing technologies developed at the turn of the century, the new goals in medicine are to switch from population medicine to individualized therapies, not only to cure diseases but also to prevent them. The purpose of this review by the pharmacogenetics and predictive medicine working group of the French clinical biology society (SFBC) is to situate in their correct context the notions of personalized medicine, pharmacogenetics, genetics and genomics, emphasizing their interactions and discussing their significance for researchers and clinicians.

Objective: To determine nutritional intake and vitamin status in a sample of homeless people who had been on the streets of Paris for more than 2 y.
Design: The nutritional status was evaluated by a 24 h recall questionnaire and by assay of circulating levels of vitamins A, B1, B6, B12, C and E.
Setting: The study was conducted in four accommodation centres of the SAMU Social of Paris (CHUSI units) from July 1999 to May 2000.

Two cases of disseminated mucormycosis in patients with underlying hematological disease are described. Both patients presented with fever and pulmonary infiltrates which did not respond to empirical treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics and antifungal agents, and in both patients there was rapid progression with a fatal outcome. All cultures were negative and the diagnosis was made postmortem.

Age is the major factor associated with variation of total phospholipids. In females, this is due in part to age-related changes in hormonal status.
