Although heart rate variability (HRV) is a valid method to evaluate the behavior of the autonomic nervous system in individuals with temporomandibular disorder (TMD), the measurement can easily be biased by factors involving the analysis methodology, such as the removal of artifacts. Therefore, the objective of this investigation is to evaluate the impact of using different levels of threshold-based artifact correction to process HRV data in individuals with TMD. This cross-sectional observational study.

Methods: This is a comparative observational cross-sectional study.

Background: Delirium is an underdiagnosed condition and this may be related, among other causes, to the incorrect use of assessment tools due to lack of knowledge about cognitive assessment and lack of training of the care team. The aim of this study was to investigate the difficulties encountered by the nursing team in the application of the Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU) in patients on mechanical ventilation.
Methods: This is descriptive study with a qualitative approach in a private tertiary hospital located in northeast Brazil.
Individuals affected by COVID-19 have an alteration in autonomic balance, associated with impaired cardiac parasympathetic modulation and, consequently, a decrease in heart rate variability (HRV). This study examines the inter- and intrarater reliability of HRV) parameters derived from short-term recordings in individuals post-COVID. Sixty-nine participants of both genders post-COVID were included.

Methods: The Brazilian version of the Heart Disease Fact Questionnaire was developed through the processes of translation, back-translation, review committee, and pre-test. Test-retest reliability was measured using the intraclass correlation coefficient and the kappa coefficient.
Patricide is the murder of one of the parents. We report a case of a man who had committed two homicides, at different times, one of them being considered a parricide. He was referred for forensic psychiatric evaluation and later evaluated in a psychiatric assistance service.

Results were compared to those of another study performed at the same sites and in similar conditions, in 1987. The entire population of the three sites, with few exceptions, was submitted to fecal tests using the Kato-Katz method and immediate intradermal tests for schistosomiasis in both studies.

The PECE (Program for the Control of Schistosomiasis), undertaken since 1979 has reduced the prevalence of S. mansoni infection and the hepatosplenic form of the disease.

The study included clinical and quantitative fecal examination, skin test for Schistosoma mansoni infection, evaluation of man-water contact of the total population (829 persons) in the three localities and other epidemiological investigations such as infection rate and dynamics of the snail population. After 13 mass treatments in Aliança, the prevalence of S.

The studies included clinical and fecal examination by the Kato-Katz quantitative technique, skin test for Schistosoma mansoni infection, evaluation of man-water contact and other epidemiological investigations such as infection rate and dynamic of the snail population. Results showed: (1) Higher prevalence of S.
