A 68-year-old man presented with one week of vague abdominal symptoms and was found to have new ascites and pulmonary embolism for which a heparin drip was initiated. We report a case diagnosing hemoperitoneum with point of care ultrasound (POCUS). Identifying hemoperitoneum can be challenging, but POCUS can be a useful tool for its diagnosis.

Animal Studied: Four foals with bilateral ocular disease.
Procedures: Complete ophthalmic examination was performed for each horse, and corneal samples were collected for cytology and microbiologic evaluation, including virus isolation and molecular diagnostics for the equine herpesviruses.
Background: There is no gold standard test to accurately identify patients with cellulitis and therefore misdiagnosis is common. Using the clinical impression of a dermatology or an infectious disease specialist as a reference standard, we sought to determine the prevalence of misdiagnosis of cellulitis among nonspecialist physicians.
Methods: A systemic search was performed using MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and EMBASE databases for studies reporting diagnostic accuracy of cellulitis.
Circadian rhythms in core body temperature (CBT) have been widely studied, but fewer studies have explored higher-frequency (ultradian) rhythms in detail. We analyzed CBT recordings from young and middle-aged wild-type mice as well as from the Q175 model of Huntington's disease (HD), at sufficient temporal resolution to address the question of ultradian rhythms. We used model selection methods to show that the overall circadian pattern was better fit by a square wave than a sine wave.

By utilizing a classical twin design which allows decomposing the variation of height into genetic and environmental components, we tested the hypothesis that environmental variation in height is greater in offspring of lower educated parents. This article summarizes TRA's recent achievements and future directions, including new methodologies addressing causation, linkage to health, economic and educational administrative datasets and to geospatial data to provide insight into health and disease.

The main objective is to study factors that modify genetic and environmental variation of height, body mass index (BMI, kg/m2) and size at birth, and additionally to address other research questions such as long-term consequences of birth size. The project started in 2013 and is open to all twin projects in the world having height and weight measures on twins with information on zygosity.

Because smokers and non-smokers may differ in genetic and environmental family background, we analysed data from twin pairs in which the co-twins differed by their smoking behaviour to evaluate if the association between smoking and body mass index (BMI) remains after controlling for family background.
Methods And Findings: The international CODATwins database includes information on smoking and BMI measured between 1960 and 2012 from 156,593 twin individuals 18-69 years of age.
Background: There is evidence that birth weight is positively associated with education, but it remains unclear whether this association is explained by familial environmental factors, genetic factors or the intrauterine environment. We analysed the association between birth weight and educational years within twin pairs, which controls for genetic factors and the environment shared between co-twins.
Methods: The data were derived from nine twin cohorts in eight countries including 6116 complete twin pairs.
Background: The genetic architecture of birth size may differ geographically and over time. We examined differences in the genetic and environmental contributions to birthweight, length and ponderal index (PI) across geographical-cultural regions (Europe, North America and Australia, and East Asia) and across birth cohorts, and how gestational age modifies these effects.
Methods: Data from 26 twin cohorts in 16 countries including 57 613 monozygotic and dizygotic twin pairs were pooled.
Background: Clinical pharmacy services were initiated at 7 of 11 clinics within a primary care network (PCN), which was designated as a patient-centered medical home and was affiliated with a large academic medical center in October 2014. The goal of the service was to target patients with uncontrolled chronic conditions, specifically diabetes. Patients met with a clinical pharmacist through individual clinic and telephonic appointments, in addition to usual appointments with physicians as needed.
